Potentiality of Different Seed Priming Agents to Mitigate Cold Stress of Winter Rice Seedling

Seed priming has proved to be an effective pre-germination seed invigoration technique for different crops improve and seedling performance under abiotic stresses. In Bangladesh, winter rice is very often exposed cold waves just after sowing in the nursery bed resulting poor germination emergence, yellowish thin seedlings production, a low survival rate. may mitigate stress during emergence helps quality production of rice. To evaluate efficacy techniques increasing growth, vigor survivability cultivars stress, pot experiment was conducted at Department Agronomy, Bangladesh Agricultural University December 2018 January 2019. The comprised two factors, (A) Winter variety namely, i) BRRI dhan29 ii) dhan36; (B) agent namely Control (no priming), 20000 ppm NaCl, iii) 30000 iv) KCl, v) vi) CaCl2, vii) viii) 50 CuSO4, ix) 75 x) 10000 ZnSO4, xi) 15000 xii) 2 Na2MoO4, xiii) 3 xiv) 100 PEG (Polyethylene glycol 4000) xv) 150 PEG. Seeds were sown on dates viz., 1st so that are stages. laid out completely randomized design (CRD) with three replications. Results indicated (in most cases) positive impact rate (%), root length, shoot ratio, dry weight, weight (%). Among agents, KCl CaCl2 performed best; while NaCl showed no advantages over both dates. general, dhan36 better than terms growth because its higher tolerance stress.
